Hello there, let me tell you a little about myself.
Photography started as a hobby when I was a teen, I realized then that I didn’t have a single picture of my mother and father together. One of them was always behind the camera taking pictures of us kids. I vowed right then that I would change that with my family and those around me, and I have.
I joined the US Navy in 2000 and spent the next 11 years being a combat photographer. I photographed everything, ceremonies, portraits, deployments. I even got to work as a photographer for the command magazine while I was in Fort Meade, Maryland.
It was during these years that God brought to me my soul mate, and also my best friend. After 2 children we decided that one of us had to get out of the Navy and stay at home. Deployments are hard on children, especially when both parents are deployed. Well, my husband outranked me and had more time in than me so he was the logical choice to stay in, so I hung up my uniform and took on mommy duty.
It did not take me long to discover that I needed a creative outlet, the same one that photography gave me while I was in the military. So Sartain Pictures was born.
For the first 5 years, I photographed everything. Weddings, births, family portraits, pets, I still love to go on a missionary trip to document all the wonderful things God shows me. I also serve as a church photographer for the surrounding areas.
However, now we have 4 children, and we are finally retired and have settled down here in quite little Ashland, Al. Which has allowed me to really narrow down what I love to do.
With over 20 years of photography knowledge, I have honed the awesome ability to capture the authentic you. I help you tell your story with pictures and help you stand out in the crowd.
So this is my story. What’s yours?
